Search and jump
What ⌘K and the Research search box find (symbols, your briefs, the research feed, sessions, proposals and alerts), where each result takes you, and why results never come from another book.

One search runs behind every box in the console. Type two characters or more into the command palette (⌘K, or Jump to… in the top bar) and, under the usual "Where do I…" and settings rows, grouped results appear from the whole book. A single capital letter counts too, because V, F and T are tickers.
What it finds, and where a result goes

Matches are highlighted in the title and in a two-line snippet; a group header shows how many more there are ("Briefs · 14", or "200+"). Words match from their start (nvid finds NVIDIA), common stems count (earning finds "earnings"), a few synonym groups are built in (fed / FOMC / federal reserve; earnings / results / EPS), and symbol and help titles tolerate a typo. Times in subtitles are Central. Snippets from briefs, sessions and proposals are model-written text and are marked as such.
The search box at the top of the Briefs column on Research is the same service narrowed to briefs and the feed: a brief hit selects the brief, a feed hit opens the item.
It never crosses books
Everything except symbols, the shared research feed and help belongs to one book, and the search answers only from the book you are looking at: your own, one you run, or one shared with you read only. Another book's briefs, sessions, proposals and alerts are never a result, whoever you are; the house owner viewing a book sees that book's results, not the house's. The only global facts are that a symbol exists and what the public feed said, the same residual the isolation promise already names. A record becomes searchable the moment it is saved and disappears if the save is rolled back; a nightly pass at 16:30 CT re-checks every index and raises an internal alert if one has fallen behind.
The desk uses the same search
The Researcher, the PM and the Critic recall earlier work with search_briefs (now helped by stems and synonyms), open a whole stored brief with open_brief, and search the feed by relevance with search_research, mutes applied and third-party text flagged as untrusted. Consult has one search tool over every group above for the book you are asking about, so "did we ever propose AVGO?" or "what did the brief say about capex?" gets pointers you can click. None of them can search a transcript or another book: there is no argument for it.
Not in this build
Search over support cases, and the help group answered by the server rather than the console's own index. Ask Consult "where is…" when a word finds nothing; see Where do I…?.
