A calmer front page, and a shell and Inbox that agree on what waits for you
The front page is calm again, and the top of the console and the Inbox now agree on what is waiting for you.
What changed for people using Bellwether
- A calmer front page. The page opens on a slow field of floating white points with a rare orange spark. The bright beam that crossed it is gone, and the field now asks less of your computer, so a large screen should stay smooth.
- One count of what waits for you. The number beside Inbox, the thin line under the top bar and the Inbox itself count the same things. They count orders to approve and requests to answer. The line turns amber only while that count is above zero.
- An Inbox in four tabs. Waiting, Decided, Activity and Feedback each get the whole page. Waiting is one row per decision with Approve and Reject on the row. Decided is one table with four plain statuses. Activity shows one trading day at a time.
- The Review screen is folded away. The day in words sits on Overview, the Advisor's notes are in the Inbox and your feedback is an Inbox tab. Old links land in the right place.
- Clearer marks for each role. The small drawings for the Portfolio Manager, the Researcher, the Critic, the Quant and the others were redrawn so they stay crisp at small sizes.
- Pause and resume in one place. The button in the top bar reads Pause trading or Resume trading. While trading is stopped, the band under the bar says why in the same words on every screen, and what you can press sits on the band's middle line.
- Connect, Accounts and Go live. Connecting a broker is a short guided path with each step's button on the first screen. Accounts says in one sentence whether the book can trade. Going live is still a ceremony with typed confirmations and your code.
- Signals. The screen that was called Algorithms is now called Signals, with three tabs named Blend, Setups and Suggestions. Old links keep working.
What you may notice
- The list of screens on the left is shorter and always opens at the top, so Overview and the Inbox stay where you left them. On a short window a band at the bottom says how many more screens it hides.
- The account menu has five rows. Password, devices and people are reached from Settings or by typing their name in the search box.
- On a phone the bottom bar holds Overview, Inbox, Portfolio, Desk (named "Agent" until the release after this one) and More. Consult is the orange button beside the book's name.
- After the close the Inbox never shows a countdown on an order that cannot go out before the next open.
- An order that expired is shown as a record under Decided and is never counted as waiting.
- Every picture in Help that shows a role mark, the Inbox, Overview, Connect, Accounts, Signals, Strategy, Risk, Consult or Settings was taken again.
- Nothing in this release changes what the desk buys or sells.
Switched on
- Nothing is switched on or off by this release.
Known gaps and what’s next
- Overview keeps its old layout with the day in words in its side column, and on a laptop it is a little longer than before. A rebuilt Overview comes with a later release.
- Activity still has its own entry in the list of screens although it is an Inbox tab now. The entry leaves with a later release.
- On Performance, the luck or skill panel and the page header can name trading day counts one day apart.
- The Inbox says how many of the Quant's ideas it holds back, but no screen lists them yet.
- A change you accepted from the Quant can still be taken back. A signal's weight is taken back from its row on Signals, any other setting where it lives.
- Strategy and the Desk screen (named "Agent" until the release after this one) count the Quant's held-back ideas as waiting, so they can say 8 where the Inbox offers 6.
